# Artifis SEO — plain English FAQ

This answers the six questions people ask about competitor sniffing, Google search, and visitors.

---

## 1. How many people visited my competitors (Yeoman, 786, etc.)?

**We do not know — and we cannot find out.**

Only Yeoman, 786, and each rival can see their own visitor numbers (their Google Analytics, their hosting logs). We have no access to that.

What we **can** do: read the **public words** on their website (page title, description, headings) to see what search phrases they target.

See: **Analytics → Section A**

---

## 2. What keywords did people use to find competitors?

**We do not know the exact searches people typed to reach a competitor.**

Google does not share that with us for other people’s websites.

What we **can** infer: the phrases competitors **want** to rank for — from their page titles and headings (e.g. “CCTV installation Leicester”). That is what “sniffing” collects.

See: **Analytics → Section A** (table: “Keywords we sniffed from their website”)

---

## 3. Have you sniffed those words and attached them to Artifis?

**Yes — when the automatic pipeline runs.**

Every 6 hours (and on demand from the dashboard) the system:

1. Reads competitor pages
2. Saves useful phrases to the keyword list
3. Writes some of them into the **live Artifis homepage** title and description

Not every sniffed phrase is on the page at once — the title rotates on a schedule.

See: **Analytics → Section B** (count + top 20 list + highlighted live title/description)

---

## 4. How many times did Artifis come up in searches?

**Only if you upload Google Search Console data.**

Google tells **you** (the site owner) how often Artifis appeared in search results. Export a CSV from Search Console and upload it on the dashboard (“Connect your search data”).

Without that CSV: **we do not know yet.**

See: **Analytics → Section C** (Times shown = impressions)

---

## 5. How many people clicked Artifis out of those?

**Same as question 4 — needs Search Console CSV.**

The CSV includes clicks per search query. “Skipped” = shown in Google but nobody clicked (impressions minus clicks).

See: **Analytics → Section C**

---

## 6. Sniff everything so Artifis comes up in search

**Sniffing is running automatically**, but ranking on Google also needs:

- Time (weeks to months for a newer site)
- Reviews, backlinks, and content competitors already have
- A verified Search Console property for artifis.co.uk
- Regular CSV uploads so we know what is working

**What runs automatically on Hostinger:**

| Schedule | What it does |
|----------|----------------|
| Every hour | Google Trends + update live page wording |
| Every 6 hours | Sniff all competitor URLs in settings |
| Daily 06:30 | Sniff + refresh live page |

**Your action:** upload Search Console CSV when you can (weekly is fine).

- Artifis search numbers = your CSV only
- Artifis visitor counts = SEO Hub tracker on your site only
